Miraglo Works to Transform Lives

Article Abstracts

With the noble goal of promoting love, dignity, and healing for those in need around the world, the Miraglo Foundation is devoted to making a positive global impact. Founded in 2011 by Rauni Prittinen King, RN, and Mimi Guarneri, MD, FACC, ABOIM, Miraglo aims to transform lives through education, health, and research.

The foundation has taken on numerous projects in their quest to become the unifying voice of integrative health and medicine. A primary focus is the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM), an educational organization dedicated to engaging a global community of health professionals and health seekers in training, leadership, interprofessional collaboration, research, and advocacy. Dr. Guarneri founded AIHM in 2013.

Miraglo has also become the primary support of Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Center in the Tamil Nadu region in rural southern India. Originally a one-room clinic, with the help of the Miraglo Foundation, the center has expanded into a 250-bed multi-specialty hospital serving thousands of patients monthly. Providing diagnostics, imaging services, surgical procedures, food, and medicine as well as aftercare, the hospital has evolved into a facility sought out by those in need of care from the surrounding areas. In 2016 the center opened a 150-bed Specialty Hospital, with the help of Miraglo's fund-raising efforts.

The Miraglo Foundation also provided funding for schools for orphaned children through the Shantipuri Friends Foundation in India. Providing education, school supplies, food, clothing, and medical care, the group works to assist children in need. Beyond their work in India, Miraglo has helped organizations around the world from San Diego to Nepal, where they provided healthcare and education for women and children caught up in human sex trafficking. In San Diego, Miraglo works with several organizations, including Feeding San Diego, which provides weekly meals for families and seniors, and Big Animals for Little Kids, which visits hospitalized children.
