Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine is a systems, biology-based model that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to achieve the highest expression of health by addressing underlying causes of disease. It addresses the unique expression of the individual’s whole health, not just the isolated set of symptoms. The Functional Medicine model relies on a detailed understanding of each patient’s genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors and then leverages that data to direct personalized treatment plans that lead to improved patient outcomes.

Holistic Health is an ancient approach to health that considers the whole person and how he or she interacts with his or her environment rather than focusing on illness or specific parts of the body. It emphasizes the interconnectivity of the mind, body, and spirit to achieve maximum well-being and optimal functioning. Personalized Lifestyle Medicine

Lifestyle Medicine recognizes that lifestyle plays a central role in many chronic conditions. Personalized Lifestyle Medicine utilizes the lifestyle changes (such as exercise, eating habits, stress management, tobacco and alcohol use) tailored to the individual to lower the risk for chronic disease. Likewise, if the disease is already present, it can serve as an adjunct to the management plan in place in order to improve the overall health outcome.

Food As Medicine

Food As Medicine is based on the philosophy that the foods we regularly eat help determine whether or not we will become ill or remain healthy. The Food As Medicine model promotes eating a nutrient-rich diet for its strong medicinal and protective qualities. Many whole-food nutrients promote health and protect the body from disease, playing a critical role in controlling inflammation levels, balancing blood sugar, regulating cardiovascular health, and preventing chronic illnesses.
